PURPOSE: A viscous heater is provided to downsize and obtain a sufficient heating value and to remove a separate installing space by integrating with a water pump. CONSTITUTION: A viscous heater for an auxiliary heating device of a vehicle integrally combined with a water pump housing(10) comprises a front housing(20) having an axial hole(21) supporting a driving shaft(12), of which an end is fixed with an impeller(11), to rotate, a cold water inlet, and a cold water outlet; a cylindrical rotor(30) fixed to the driving shaft in the front housing to rotate; a side plate(40) installed between an outer peripheral surface of the rotor and an inner peripheral surface of the front housing to form a heating chamber between the outer peripheral surface of the rotor and the side plate and a radiating chamber between the inner peripheral surface of the front housing and the side plate; a rear plate(50) installed inside the rotor to keep a predetermined clearance with the inner peripheral surface of the rotor with having an oil storing chamber(51) storing oil, an oil supplying hole(52) supplying the oil of the oil storing chamber to the radiating chamber at the lower side, and an oil recovering hole(53) recovering the oil of the radiating chamber to the oil storing chamber at the upside; and a control device(60) arranged at the oil supplying hole and the oil recovering hole of the rear plate to control the heating value by selectively opening and shutting the oil supplying and recovering holes to the temperature of the radiating chamber.
