REMOVING APPARATUS OF SHOOT IN PREPARATION OF OPTICAL FIBER PREFORM

PURPOSE: An apparatus for removing shoot in the preparation of an optical fiber preform is provided, to prevent the shoot which is generated during the preparation of an optical fiber preform and does not deposited on a quartz tube from being flown into an exhaust tube to be deposited or to hinder the flow of a gas. CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber preform is prepared by the modified chemical vapor deposition employing an exhaust tube(50) and an inner tube(40) whose diameter is smaller than that of the exhaust tube and which is inserted into the exhaust tube. The shoot removing apparatus installed in the inner tube(40) comprises a shoot removing rod(10) which rotates in the state being contact with the inner circumference of the inner tube(40) and has screw threads on the outer circumference; and a rotation means(20) which rotates the shoot removing rod(10) to remove the shoot adhered to the inner tube(40) by the screw threads. Preferably the apparatus comprises further a coupler(30) connecting the shoot removing rod(10) and the rotation means(20).
