PURPOSE: An expansion device for an air conditioner is provided to increase productivity and assembling efficiency by simplifying the structure of the expansion device and manufacturing processes and to supply a favorable service. CONSTITUTION: An expansion device for an air conditioner comprises a second joint flange connected to a first joint flange(302) coupled with an evaporator and other components of the air conditioner; a first passage(305) passing refrigerants flowed into the evaporator and a second passage(304) passing refrigerants flowed out from the evaporator which are independently formed at the first joint flange; and a third passage connected to the first passage to pass refrigerants flowed into the first passage and a fourth passage coupled to the second passage to pass refrigerants flowed out from the second passage which are independently formed at the second joint flange. Accordingly, at least one of the first passage or the third passage throttles passed refrigerants.
