PURPOSE: A control method of defects of a speed detecting signal in an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to prevent a calculating error of speed by comparing an integrated value for a speed change and maintaining the former speed when the integrated value is over a set value. CONSTITUTION: A speed, an RPM(Revolution Per Minute) of an output shaft and other using variables are initialized(S100). A traveling of a vehicle is checked. During traveling the vehicle, a speed change value between former/present values is compared with a first set value by filtering the speeds. The speed is substituted for the former speed when the speed change value is over the first set value. The substituted speed is compared with a second set value. The maintaining of the speed is checked when the speed is over the second set value. In maintaining the speed over the second set value and over a specific time, a control signal to fix a shifting gear in a triple gear and a defect display signal are outputted. Thereby, the shifting efficiency of a vehicle is improved, the convenience of a customer is offered and the discharge of exhaust gas is reduced.
