PURPOSE: A frame offset and transmission mode estimating apparatus for a digital audio broadcasting receiver, and a method therefor are provided to reduce the entire synchronous acquisition time by simultaneously detecting a frame synchronous and a transmission mode of a signal transmitted from a digital audio broadcasting. CONSTITUTION: A power calculating unit(403) squares each sample value of a received signal, and calculates a power value of each sample. A window buffer(405) successively receives and stores the power value of each sample, which is calculated by the power calculating unit(403). A null symbol location detecting unit(409) detects a start point or an end point of a null symbol with respect to the power value of each sample, which is received from the window buffer(405). A transmission mode and offset estimating unit(411) estimates the transmission mode and offset of a frame on the basis of the start point or the end point of the null symbol, which is detected by the null symbol location detecting unit(409).
