The invention relates to a method for preparing a spin-on process in an open-end rotor-spinning unit, wherein one thread end, which is to be spun onto a fiber ring disposed in a spin rotor, is cut into lengths prior thereto, thinned out and moistened. Moistening occurs after the thinning out, by sliding the end of the thread along a moistening surface. .
