PURPOSE: An altimeter correcting method is provided to constantly display altitude of a vehicle depending on atmospheric pressure by comparing present pressure with reference pressure of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: Reference atmospheric pressure is set to 1013hpa(110). Then, present atmospheric pressure of a vehicle is inputted(120). After that, it is determined whether or not differential atmospheric pressure between reference atmospheric pressure and present atmospheric pressure is below zero(130). If differential atmospheric pressure between reference atmospheric pressure and present atmospheric pressure is below zero, new reference atmospheric pressure is set to input atmospheric pressure, and altitude is displayed based on new reference atmospheric pressure(220). After inputting new atmospheric pressure, it is determined whether or not variation of inputted pressure exceeds 50M(170). If variation of inputted pressure exceeds 50M, it is determined whether or not standard altitude-predicted altitude is below zero(180). If standard altitude-predicted altitude is below zero, it is determined whether or not N=1(190).
