PURPOSE: A device and method for a power saving of a computer is provided to execute a power saving operation effectively by supplying or disconnecting a back light power of a liquid crystal panel selectively using a LID(Leadless Inverted Device) switch which outputs an on/off signal according to a rotated open state and a closed state of the liquid crystal panel of a notebook computer and executing a power saving operation for a unit such as a bluetooth module mounted in the notebook according to user's selections simultaneously on condition that the liquid crystal is closed. CONSTITUTION: In the case that a liquid crystal panel is rotated, and opened or closed, a LID switch(20) mounted at the lower portion of the liquid crystal panel of a notebook computer creates and outputs a LID switch on/off signal(LID SW On/Off) by a mechanical contact or an electronic contact with the liquid crystal panel. At this time, the LID switch on/off signal(LID SW On/Off) is inputted to a keyboard controller(21) included in the notebook computer. In the case that a system power button or a bluetooth module power button is turned on/off in the notebook system, the keyboard controller(21) operates and controls a power managing unit(22) included in the notebook computer, and operates and controls the power managing unit(22) according to on/off signals being output from the LID switch(20).
