摘要 PURPOSE: An external optical modulator based on an FP-LD(Febry Perot-Laser Diode), a modulating method therefor, and an optical transmission system using the same are provided to modulate an optical signal by an absorption null of the FP-LD, which is moved between a short wavelength and a long wavelength according to a provided current value. CONSTITUTION: A T-LD(Laser Diode)(102) generates a light for a downward signal. A PD(Photo Diode)(112) detects a light for an upward signal, which is transmitted from a subscriber network. An optical circulator(106) transmits the light for the downward signal, which is transmitted from the T-LD(102), to the subscriber network. The optical circulator(106) transmits the light for the upward signal, which is received from the subscriber network, to the PD(112). An FP-LD(110) performs an optical modulation by an absorption null of the light for the downward signal, which is generated in a TE(Transverse Electric) or TM(Transverse Magnetic) mode according to a provided current value, and transmits the light for upward signal obtained through the optical modulation to the optical circulator(106).
