PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel is provided to reduce the power consumption by reducing the number of switch elements. CONSTITUTION: A driving apparatus of a plasma display panel includes an energy collection circuit(51) for collecting energy from the first electrode and the first electrode driving portion for supplying scan pulses to the first electrode. The first electrode driving portion includes a scan driving portion(54), a setup driving portion(55), a setdown driving portion(56), the first switch, a scan voltage supply portion, the second switch, a charge/discharge path. The scan driving portion applies a voltage signal to the first electrode. The setup driving portion supplies a positive setup signal to the first electrode. The setdown driving portion supplies a negative setup signal to the first electrode. The first switch is used for switching a setdown pulse and a sustain pulse. The scan voltage supply portion supplies a scan voltage to the scan driving portion. The second switch performs a control operation to supply the setdown pulse and the scan pulse. The charge/discharge path is used for connecting the first node with the second node. |
