A rectifier is connected to a three-phase stator winding to obtain a rectified welding current. The welding current generator is separately excitated by a three-phase current generator having a rotor which rotates integrally with the pole wheel shaft of the welding current generator. Likewise connected to the rotor is a rectifier which rotates integrally with the welding current generator pole wheel.
