The scissor element (13) controls the opening and closing of the connecting element (14) as the element (13) travels along the base (11). The base (11) is in turn slotted out (16) to take a shear bolt (17) used to extend the scissor movement along the base. The connector (14) catcher hook (18) opens against a return spring (19) so as to close or open up the power bar seat (20). The connector (14) closes and opens in response to contact between connector lug (22) and the strip edge (23), itself forming part of the scissor element (13). The power bar element acting as connecting device (14) automatically connects to or parts from the power bar when the extender element (13) is closed and when the locking device has been driven into its locking setting.
