摘要 PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing engineering balls with high precision and high yield are provided to accurately manufacture size, sphericity and surface roughness of the engineering balls, and substantially increase yield accordingly. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing engineering balls with high precision and high yield comprises a charger(22) which is arranged at a position where droplets are fallen to activate electrical repulsive power between falling droplets, and to which a certain positive or negative voltage is impressed; an image acquisition means(43) outputting image signals or image data by acquiring images of droplets fallen from a spray tank(21); a deflector(23) extracting ball images from the image signals or image data of the acquired droplets, judging whether the acquired data are included in the standard value range on size, sphericity and surface roughness by acquiring data of the size, sphericity and surface roughness from the ball images, and dropping the droplets into a gutter(51) when the acquired data are not included in the standard value range; a deflector control part(23a) for controlling a deflecting amount by the deflector(23); a computer(45) controlling the deflector control part(23a) and the deflector(23) so that the droplets are dropped into the gutter(51) by the deflector(23) so as to treat the acquired data as defects when the acquired data are not included in the standard value range by extracting ball images from the image signals or image data of the acquired droplets and judging whether the acquired data are included in the standard value range on size, sphericity and surface roughness by acquiring data of the size, sphericity and surface roughness from the ball images; and a defective ball recovery system(50) having a feedback means(motor pump)(52) and a feedback line(53) so as to flow the defective engineering balls collected into the gutter(51) into a molten metal supply unit.
