Drive for generation of a rotational movement of a motor vehicle seat adjuster comprises a drive wheel (3) and lever (2) mounted on a common axle (20) with ratchets (5, 6) that mesh with the drive wheel. The ratchets are positioned separately on the drive wheel and run opposite to each other when the operating lever is activated. Thus the first ratchet is active when the wheel is rotated in one direction, while the second ratchet is active when the wheel is rotated in the other direction.
