As in FR 6922539 weft-inserting device is kept waiting outside the needle zone by retaining elements near the weft reversal points and is brought over the warp yarns by guides. The weft is kept waiting by a yarn guide which is displaced on a closed path enclosing the stop elements. The retaining elements, which can oscillate from the receiving to the delivery position, are movable in height and laterally in a plane perp. to the needle bar.
