PURPOSE: A method for automatically installing and updating a software by on-line is provided to realize a charged service by restricting an illegal use in accordance with a term based on an automatic installation and an automatic update of a program, and payment information. CONSTITUTION: A user connects to an installation page. If the user completes a payment, an installation program is executed. The installation program records payment information in a user ID and automatically installs a program of the latest version to a user PC. The program analyzes user computer information(hard disk capacity, system specification) and automatically constitutes an environment setting file when installing the program. Programs which are executed as a background and an update program are automatically executed. The update program is executed as a background, automatically connects to a server automatically at a specific time, and checks whether a program of the latest version exists. If a program of the latest version exists, the program is automatically updated.
