<p>Producing a blood compatible coating on a cardiovascular implant consists of placing the implant (S) inside a CVD appts. (2), and evacuating to a predetermined pressure. A negative voltage is applied to the implant and etching gas is passed through the appts. at a predetermined first flux rate. A high frequency power of a predetermined first power density is applied to the vessel (21), in order to carry out a plasma enhanced ionic, or reactive ionic etch of the surface of the implant for a certain time period. The negative bias is then removed, and a mixt. of process gases contg. a semiconductor element in cpd. form is passed through at a predetermined second flux rate. A second high frequency power density is applied, and plasma CVD is carried out to form the semiconductor cpd. layer (4).</p> |
