METHOD FOR FORMING SPACER OF LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A method for forming a spacer of a liquid crystal display is provided to form a spacer used for maintaining a gap between upper and lower substrates of the liquid crystal display through the laser transfer method. CONSTITUTION: Pixels electrodes are formed on the first substrate. Multiple donor films(290) including a transfer layer(280) and a light-to-heat conversion layer(284) are deposited on the second substrate(262) on which a color filter(264) and a common electrode(266) are formed. Laser is selectively irradiated to the donor films to transfer portions of the transfer layer to which heat is transferred through the light-to-heat conversion layer to the second substrate. The donor films are stripped to form a plurality of spacers(270) composed of the transferred patterns. The first and second substrates are attached to each other having a gap formed by the spacers. A liquid crystal layer is formed between the first and second substrates.
