The mobile traffic light system comprises a group (10) of mobile traffic light units (1), a base station with a stationary radio transceiver that communicates with radio transceivers (6) of the traffic light units for data exchange and a central control station (12). The central unit is used to control switching of the traffic light units and preferably exchanges data signals with the base station over a public data network (13), especially the internet .
