PURPOSE: An alternator is provided to reduce noises generated from the alternator by forming optimum number of air flow holes at the front housing of the alternator and reinforcing the strength of the stator support and the support rib of the vacuum pump of the rear housing. CONSTITUTION: An alternator comprises a front housing(10) having a stator support(13) and a plurality of air flow holes(11), and a rear housing having a vacuum pump boss and a plurality of air intake holes. The air flow holes are formed asymmetrically on the front housing, and the stator support has an increased strength by increasing the thickness of the stator support. The vacuum pump boss of the rear housing has a support rib so as to reduce the vibration generated from the vacuum pump.
