PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solving means effective and appropriate against degradation of belt durability caused by a subsequent growth development of a micro crack that occurs facing a terminal end of a reinforcing element in rubber at the end of a belt layer. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire has at least a two-layer belt for reinforcing a tread as a rubberizing layer of the reinforcing elements by a steel cord or a mono-filament arranged in parallel obliquely to the tire equatorial plane. The reinforcing elements have an elliptic outline shape, and are built in the belt layer in an arrangement where major axes of the ellipses are aligned in the radial direction of the tire.
