PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chisel for the vertebral terminal plate which can rapidly and easily form a channel of a rectangular shape before embedment of an implant. SOLUTION: A box chisel appliance 501 has an upper part 9 and a lower part 11 and is provided with a distal end base part 507 having a base 3 and a distal end 5, an upper cutting blade 14 extending from the upper part 9 toward the distal end and a lower cutting blade 16 extending from the lower part 11 toward the distal end. The upper and lower cutting blades are arranged parallel with each other. A guide 24 extending toward the distal end is integrally connected to the distal end base part 507. The guide 24 is arranged between the cutting blades 14 and 16 and the width of the guide 24 is≤95% of the width of the upper cutting blade 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
