PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and easy to synthesize apoptosis-inducing agent exhibiting the apoptosis-inducing activity against various cancer cell lines in a lower concentration and also exhibiting cytotoxicity in the lower concentration. SOLUTION: This apoptosis-inducing agent has a 2 ring core structure expressed by the following general formula (1) as a base skeleton, and consists of e.g. a synthetic intermediate, etc., of halichlorine which is a kind of a natural product having a cell adhesion-controlling activity.
