PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating the hair so as to protect its cuticle. SOLUTION: This method for treating the hair comprises applying to the hair a hair cosmetic of rinsing or non-rinsing type containing 0.01-30 wt.% of an amphipathic lipid 0.5-80μm in mean particle size having in the molecule at least one hydroxy group and at least one amido group and then applying heat of a temperature higher than that lower than the melting point of the amphipathic lipid by 10°C.
