PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer in which an image can be formed, in standing state, on the entire circumferential surface even of a cylindrical body, e.g. a gas cylinder, and ink can be fed to a nozzle head under stabilized state. SOLUTION: A controller 36 controls a nozzle head 34 to perform scanning in the vertical direction based on image information and to eject ink drops, thus writing an image R on a gas cylinder B. The gas cylinder B is turned intermittently about the longitudinal axis by means of a turntable 14 and a drive roller 30 every time when the nozzle head 34 performs single scanning operation. Since the gas cylinder B turns by 360°under upright state, an image can be formed across the entire circumferential surface of the gas cylinder B without turning the nozzle head 34 in the horizontal direction.
