The present invention relates to a coated article wherein the coating comprises a metallic infrared (IR) reflecting layer sandwiched between first and second contact layers which contact the IR reflecting layer; and a first dielectric layer having an index of refraction n <= 3.0 under the IR reflecting layer and a second dielectric layer comprising silicon oxynitride over the IR reflecting layer and over the contact layers. The second dielectric layer comprises silicon oxynitride and is oxidation and/or nitrogen graded, so that an index of refraction "n" of the layer changes from a first value in a first portion of the layer to a smaller second value in a second portion of the layer.
