A multiband antenna for a mobile telephone has an earth plane (1) with a first section (4) which is discrete and separate in RF terms from a second section (5). An antenna pattern (2) is designed for resonance in one upper and one lower frequency range and is disposed a distance from the first section of the earth plane (1) on a carrier (12) of electrically insulating and non-magnetic material. The configuration and size of the carrier (12) coincide approximately with those of the first section (4) of the earth plane. Both sections of the earth plane are, in DC terms, connected to one another via an inductance (9). The interior space in the carrier or between the carrier and the first section (4) of the earth plane (1) is utilised for mounting electric components that use the first section of the earth plane as DC return. |
