<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein that can contribute to the DNA-repairing process by recognizing mutant DNA structures caused by chain damage and acting on the position to repair. <P>SOLUTION: A protein having the endonuclease activity to specifically cleave the upstream part by 3-6 bases from the nick or gap area to the 5'-terminal side, for example, in the amino acid sequence of 1) a heat-resistant protein originating from archaebacteria or in the amino acid sequence of 2) one or several amino acids are deleted from, substituted with or added to the heat- resistant protein 1) and have double-stranded DNA including nicks or gaps. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
