PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial product made antimicrobial with an antimicrobial agent, usable without anxiety and without a fear of infectious diseases, etc., and an antimicrobial method by which sterilization of the antimicrobial product and a place for handling thereof can sufficiently be carried out with sustained sterilizing effects without deteriorating safety at a low cost. SOLUTION: The antimicrobial product containing the antimicrobial agent and/or the place where the antimicrobial product is handled are sterilized with a sterilizing liquid which is an aqueous solution containing hypochlorous acid. A postal matter or a material for mail containing at least one kind of the antimicrobial agent is used. Thereby, the antimicrobial product usable without the anxiety and without the fear of infectious diseases, etc., especially the postal matter and the material for main are provided. The antimicrobial method by which the sterilization of the postal matter and material for mail and the place for handling thereof can sufficiently be carried out and the sterilizing effects are sustained can be carried out without deteriorating the safety at a low cost.
