PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bellows type air lifter having excellent operability with a simple mechanism, having excellent compactness requiring little space when stored, and obtaining a stable long stroke. SOLUTION: A pair of bellows bag elements are oppositely disposed at a specified interval, and air is introduced into the bellows bag elements, thereby lifting an article to be lifted placed on an upper part of the pair of the bellows bag elements. The pair of the bellows bag elements is made by coupling a plurality of individual bags, and formed so as to upwardly expand with introduction of the air. The bellows bag elements are coupled with each other by a pair of coupling strings laid across in a cross shape at an upper part. The pair of coupling strings is formed to be pulled to the inside that is an opposite surface of the bellows bag elements as the pair of the bellows bag elements are upwardly expanded by the introduction of the air for lifting up the article to be lifted.
