PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously obtain a plate material which can attain a sufficient strength and which is extremely lightweight and has an optimum heat insulating effect, by a simple process. SOLUTION: A member 5 comprising glass fibers is guided into a space formed by an outer mold 11 and a central mold 12, while a resin 4 is injected into this space, and the member 5 comprising the glass fibers and the resin 4 are made integral, so that a hollow panel 2 be formed. A foamable material is injected into a hollow portion formed in the hollow panel 2 and is so foamed as to be integrated with the hollow panel 2. Thereby the plate material 1 is manufactured.
