PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem such as erroneous detection and the breakage of a sensor caused when a conventional pressure sensitive sensor provided on a tongs and detecting a coil is applied to a scrap coil. SOLUTION: A rod 43 is fixed at a tip end of a horizontal portion 22 of a tongs 20L by a pin 47 so as to vertically swing, and such a rod 43 is made to penetrate a through-hole 48 provided on a leg portion 21. A block 49 is installed to a base portion of the rod 43 projecting out of the leg portion 21, and the block 49 is detected by a detecting sensor 45. The rod can be lowered even if a coil contacts with any part of the rod. Namely, even if a position of a winding start portion is slightly misaligned, the winding start portion can be certainly detected. The rod has no fear of breaking down even if contacting with the winding start portion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
