PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a work in the case when a metal plate is sent to a press brake and a plurality of ribs are continuously formed. SOLUTION: The method for aligning a member to be worked comprises the processes of: disposing a positioning gage having a plurality of stepwise steps at an upper side forward of the press brake so that the rising side of the step is set substantially vertically with the result that the entire upper side is inclined to the brake side; projecting the end of the member against the rise side of the step of the side far from the press brake; sequentially dropping the end of the member on the next step at each time when the rib is formed by the operation of the brake; and positioning the rise side of the step by butting the end of the member against the rise side of the step.
