PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable ink jet head in which the entire structure can be held well even when recording operation is performed at a high speed by preventing a barrier wall member effectively from softening or deforming. SOLUTION: A plurality of heating resistors 3 are arranged linearly on the upper surface of a base plate 2 and on a head substrate 1, where one end of each heating resistor 3 is connected with a common electrode 5 and the other end thereof is connected with each individual electrode 6, a top plate 9 having a plurality of ink ejection holes 10 is mounted between adjacent heating resistors 3 through a resin barrier wall member 8, and a region between the head substrate 1 and the top plate 9 where the barrier wall member 8 does not exist is filled with ink 11. In such an ink jet head, upper surface of the base plate 2 is coated with a metallic dummy pattern 4 longer than the heating resistor 3 between adjacent heating resistors 3 and 3.
