PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of exact paper feeding operation by easily holding the top face of printing paper horizontal. SOLUTION: This paper feeder comprises a first supporting member 31 for supporting the central section in the bottom face of the printing paper S placed on a paper setting base 10, a second supporting member 32 for supporting a corner section in the bottom face of the printing paper S, a sensor 19 for detecting the height of the top face of the printing paper S placed on the paper setting base 10, and a lifting screw 34 lifted by the driving of a motor 38 rotating based on a signal from the sensor 19.
