<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tool exchanging device capable of expanding or contracting an arm in a reasonable and simple structure and allowing essential high speed operation of the device by decreasing turning radius. <P>SOLUTION: In the automatic tool exchanging device 1, the arm 3 that is disposed on a rotated arm driving shaft 2 and turned is expanded or contracted. The arm 3 comprises a grip arm part 4 for removably holding a tool and an arm support part 5 for movably supporting the grip arm part 4. Between the arm support part 5 and the arm driving shaft 2, a clutch 6 is disposed that connects the arm support part 5 to the arm driving shaft 2 and integrally rotates them, or separates them from each other and relatively rotates the arm support part 5 and the arm driving shaft 2.
