<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas capable of efficiently cleaning NOx even within a low exhaust gas temperature region, an exhaust gas cleaning method and a method for manufacturing a specific compound oxide. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is manufactured by supporting a catalytic component on the compound oxide obtained by baking a mixture containing an alkaline earth element and aluminum in air. This compound oxide has an X-ray diffraction pattern prescribed by a predetermined 2θ value and relative intensity. In the exhaust gas cleaning method using this catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas, the temperature region of the exhaust gas at the time of cleaning of the exhaust gas is a temperature region lowering the capacity of the catalyst by the coexistence of carbon monoxide and the atmosphere of the exhaust gas is a reducing atmosphere. The compound oxide is manufactured by adding a carboxylic acid to an alkaline earth element and aluminum oxide to mix the same with both of them and drying the obtained carboxylic acid solution and grinding the dried one to bake the same in air streams. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
