PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vinyl alcohol polymer film which is easy to stretch uniformly, useful as a material for manufacturing a polarizing film having a uniform polarizing performance, free of a crease and uniform in thickness. SOLUTION: A film-making material containing a vinyl alcohol polymer is cast or discharged onto an endless belt and dried and the vinyl alcohol polymer film thus obtained is peeled off from the endless belt by the medium of a peeling roll. In this method of manufacturing the vinyl alcohol polymer film, the film-making material is dried until the volatile content of the film becomes 13 wt.%, and a difference in a distance in the longitudinal direction between a peel point of the end part of the film peeled from the endless belt and the peel point of the central part thereof is made 15 cm or less.
