<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical film, by which a cured resin including air bubbles are hardly formed, even when a pattern with a discontinuous steep prism inclined plane is transferred and a high-quality optical film can be efficiently mass-produced. <P>SOLUTION: As the steps of the method for manufacturing an optical film (41), a radiation-curable resin (12) is interposed between a columnar roll (1) with a pattern where numerous microprojecting parts (21) of a rectangular flat shape are scatteringly distributed, formed on the surface in such a state that the average long side direction of the microprojecting parts, based on a total of the microprojecting parts, which are obtained by summing up and averaging the long side directions of the microprojecting parts, represents a circumferential direction and a transparent film (4) which is set on the outer periphery of the roll (1) with a specified space left in between. Further, a molded layer of the curable resin (12) where the pattern (2) of the surface of the columnar roll (1) is transferred, is formed.
