PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum foil having a thickness of 7μm or less and its manufacturing method having no necessity to limit compositions and a manufacturing condition, having a superior versatility, drastically reducing generation of pin holes, and having a superior shining property. SOLUTION: The aluminum foil is characterized in that its thickness is 7μm or less, the number of the pin holes is 100 pieces/m<SP>2</SP>or below, and a reflecting rate of a light is 65% or more. In an aluminum foil prior to finish rolling having a thickness of 8 to 16μm. The manufacturing method for the aluminum foil having a thickness of 7μm or less is characterized by finish rolling the aluminum foil before finishing, in which its thickness is 8-16μm, a numbers of ridged projections extended along a rolling direction are provided on a surface of the foil, more than 90% of the ridged projections of 90% or more are 0.05μm or higher in height and 0.5 mm or longer in length, and a space between adjacent ridged projections is 100μm or less.
