PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide honing work technology capable of shortening working cycle time and carrying out precise slitting control of a honing grindstone in forcible slitting (quantitative) working type honing work. SOLUTION: Slitting quantity of the honing grindstone 10 is controlled in accordance with a measured value of cutting thrust force by measuring the cutting thrust force of the honing grindstone 10 in the forcible slitting (quantitative) working type honing work. Consequently, it is possible to automatically and certainly carry out detection of a boundary point to start a honing work process from a speedy extension process of the honing grindstone 10 by measuring the cutting thrust force, to shorten the working cycle time of the honing work and to precisely control slitting motion of the honing grindstone 10 in the honing work process by constantly measuring the cutting thrust force of the honing grindstone 10.
