PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of looseness of a stopper ring for positioning a steering shaft supporting bearing of a steering device by using an elastic body, and to prevent a breakage of the elastic body. SOLUTION: An O-ring 32 as the elastic body is interposed in the compressed condition between a C-shaped second stopper ring 28 for positioning the bearing 5 in the steering shaft and a second end surface 24 of the inner ring 14 of the bearing 5. The generation of looseness of the bearing 5 and the second stopper ring 28 is prevented by the elastic rebound force of the O-ring 32. When the second stopper ring 28 is installed in a groove bottom 42 of a second peripheral groove 26 having the groove bottom diameter at the minimum value within the tolerance range, the generation of clearance between arch ends of the second stopper ring 28 is nearly eliminated. Even if a clearance is generated between the arch ends due to unevenness of the tolerance, this clearance can be restricted to the minimum, and projection of the O-ring 32 into the clearance can be prevented.
