PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal ink jet head comprising a heater provided on an inexpensive substrate having a low thermal conductivity in which an ink liquid drop is ejected for a long time by suppressing temperature rise on the periphery of the heater. SOLUTION: The ink jet head comprises a substrate 102 having a thermal conductivity not higher than 15 (W/m/k), a heat transfer layer 104 of 10μm thick or above formed on the substrate 102, a thermal insulation layer 106 formed thereon, and a heater 118 formed further thereon.
