PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating with an excellent reducing effect of dioxins and mercury in the condensed drain produced in a heating dechlorination device for incineration ash of city garbage. SOLUTION: After oxidation of the condensed drain produced in a heating dechlorination device for the incineration ash of city garbage, the drain is subjected to an adsorption treatment by a chelating resin and, if necessary, to the adsorption treatment by activated carbon so as to obtain the condensed drain as waste water containing dioxins and mercury removed most. If the adsorption treatment by activated carbon is carried out, the oxidizing agent is preferably preliminarily removed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
