PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for carrying out high speed flotation and filtration of the particles suspended in various kinds of raw water, by a simple operation without installing an air compressor and air dissolving equipment, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: Floatable particles each having≤1 specific gravity and an organic macromolecular flocculant or an inorganic and the organic macromolecular flocculant are added to suspended water, which is then agitated so that flocks of the substance to be flocculated in raw water are stuck to the floatable particles. The flock-containing water is supplied to a flotation and filtration tank provided with a filtration layer in the lower part and separated into the floated particles containing the flocks and water. The separated water is filtered by the filtration layer in the lower part. Fine particles each having≤0.1 specific gravity are preferably used as the floatable particles. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
