PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a vinyl alcohol polymer film which is useful as a material for manufacturing a polarizing film and of which the local unevenness of the thickness in a portion corresponding to a joint of an endless belt is lessened. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for the vinyl alcohol polymer film wherein a film-making material containing a vinyl alcohol polymer is cast or discharged onto the endless belt and then dried, the rear side of the endless belt at a position where the material is cast or discharged onto the belt is in contact with a heating roll and a temperature difference between the endless belt in the area where it comes into contact with the heating roll and the surface of the roll is 50°C or below.
