PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inhibiting the corrosion of a weatherable steel through saved steps, by which the rust resistance and weatherability can be maintained for a long time and an optional coloring can be performed. SOLUTION: As the steps of this method, a corrosion-inhibitive coating film containing particles of a metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, zinc and their alloys, is formed, in a film thickness of 30 to 80μm, on the surface of the weatherable steel. In addition, a colored organic/inorganic composite coating material for top coating which contains the following components: (1) a fluororesin, an epoxy resin or a (meth)acrylic resin, each having a hydrolyzable silyl group, (2) an organosilane shown by the formula: R<SP>1</SP><SB>n</SB>Si(OR<SP>2</SP>)<SB>4-n</SB>[wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a 1-8C organic group; R<SP>2</SP>is a 1-5C alkyl group; and n is 1 or 2] or their partially hydrolytic condensation product, (3) a non-polluting rust- resistant pigment and (4) a coloring agent and forms a coating film showing a rate of gloss retention of 85% or higher after 300 hours of a sunshine weatherometer exposure by the promoted weatherability test, is applied to the surface of the corrosion-inhibitive coating film in such a way that the dry film thickness is 20 to 40μm.
