PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device capable of easily handling an accordion jam and easily clearing the jam by preventing the jam of a next sheet beforehand. SOLUTION: Face down discharge roller pairs 10 provided in a discharge carrier path 14 discharging a recording surface down in a simplex recording discharge sheets to a face down discharge part 9 in a normal rotation, while in the duplex recording, the face down discharge roller pairs 10 are reversed on its way to carrying and reversely carry the sheets. This image recording device is characterized in that, in the reverse operation, a reverse sheet intrusion detecting sensor S5 does not detect the sheets for a prescribed time, the face down discharge roller pairs 10 are normally rotated to notify the sheet jam.
