PURPOSE:To reduce erroneous recognition even in the case that a change area is not distinctly extracted. CONSTITUTION:A circumscribed rectangle of a change area is obtained by a change area segmenting processing 5 in the method where a difference picture between an input picture and a background picture for confirmation of the presence or the absence of intruders is obtained by a difference processing 3 and is binarized by a binarization processing 4 and the presence or the absence of intruders is discriminated by the change area of the binarized difference picture. The circumscribed rectangle is equally divided into three in the vertical direction by a change area division processing 6, and distances from maximum values to minimum values of Y coordinates in the vertical direction in change areas in three divided circumscribed rectangles are obtained in all areas of divided circumscribed rectangles by a distance histogram generation processing 17, and results are shown on the axis of abscissas as a distribution chart to generate a distance histogram. The feature quantity is extracted from the distance histogram by a feature quantity extraction processing 8, and an intruder is recognized by relations between the extracted feature quantity and length and width ratios of the change area to the circumscribed rectangle. |
