A tube 1 containing a wick 2 runs from a water container 3 into an air intake tube 4. As the air passes over the wet wick 2, water vapour from the wick is carried into the engine intake, increasing efficiency and fuel economy. The faster the engine speed, the more vacuum it produces; if you have a high vacuum, you have a greater amount of air passing over the wick and this increases the amount of water vapour that goes into the air intake of the engine. The water level 5 in the container 3 may be maintained automatically. The air intake tube 4 may be fitted close to the exhaust manifold to increase evaporation. A heating element may be used instead of a wick, eg for arctic conditions. |
